Greetings Heroes and Villains,
Andre here, Executive Producer of DC Universe Online.
As we step into a brand-new year together, I want to take a moment to reflect on where DC Universe Online has been and where it’s going next. Over the past year, the team has pushed forward with some of our most ambitious changes yet, all driven by one guiding goal: making DCUO a stronger, more accessible, and more exciting game for every type of Hero and Villain.
This year is especially meaningful, as we celebrate 15 years of the game’s history! Fifteen years of stories, characters, and memories shared with one of the most passionate communities in gaming. Before we look ahead, let’s take a moment to appreciate how far we’ve come.
2025 marked a turning point for DCUO, beginning with the introduction of our new narrative Chapter format. This structure allowed us to tell deeper serialized stories over time, rather than one-shot releases, and our first full story arc “Light and Rain” set the tone for what this new approach could deliver. From its opening moments to its finale, the arc gave us room to dig deeper into characters, themes, and consequences in ways that simply weren’t possible before.
We also spent a lot of effort on gameplay and UI enhancements. Over the past year, improvements have been made to the Ally System, providing much longer Active Ally uptime in battle. While the recently released Ally Legion System, an account-wide ally management feature allows players to unlock and share Allies across multiple characters. Artifacts saw the addition of 2 new slots, expanding build creativity and utility. Major changes to the Knockout System arrived this year including changes to timers, temporary shielding, triggered effects on Rally, chat access, and much more.
We also tackled long-standing community requests with the launch of Cross-Faction Leagues and Grouping. Heroes and Villains joining forces, when the situation calls for it, has opened the game socially and mechanically, reducing friction and bringing more players together than ever before.
On the quality-of-life front, Private Matchmaking gave leagues and groups more control over how they play. The Broker saw numerous long-overdue improvements, as did access to Renown, Pet collision and the addition of casual-mode for over 50 instances. We were also able to release our first powerset rebalance beginning with Water.
The new Event System laid out the groundwork for focused-play along with Campaign 2025, our first full-scale annual campaign experience. Seeing players engage with a longer-form progression path tied to seasonal and narrative goals with interesting rewards reinforced that this was a direction worth investing in.
This year, we’re celebrating DCUO's 15th anniversary milestone in a big way.
One of the most exciting additions arriving with the anniversary is the introduction of Power Array Augments. Progressing these unique Augments unlocks new abilities culminating in micro power sets. These provide new layers of abilities that can enhance and evolve your existing playstyle. Launching alongside the anniversary is the first of these augments – the White Lantern Power Array Augment, available for all players to acquire after completing the Anniversary Event.
This system represents more than just a single anniversary feature. Power Array Augments are here to stay and will open the door to new kinds of progression and experimentation. They give us the flexibility to introduce powerful themes and mechanics without requiring full power respecs, giving you more ways to define your own playstyle. Yet, this is only the beginning.
As we look towards 2026, the team is already deep in planning and early development on what comes next for DCUO. The Chapter format has given us a strong foundation, and future updates will continue to build on that structure to push the narrative and gameplay depth.
Major additions will be landing in 2026! For starters, players now have access to a second ability tray, allowing you to slot more Abilities, Iconic Powers and the new Power Array Augments. This will open up creativity in builds and promote new playstyles.
We’ve identified our next powerset rebalance – let there be Light! A new Ally Collection system is in the works. Players will soon be able to direct their play to earn Artifact and/or Ally progression rewards. We’re also in the early prototyping stages of a new Alt-kicks system that will allow players to summon their Alts as Sidekicks – more to come on this! There will also be lots of fixes and quality of experience updates.
Just a few days ago, during our anniversary livestream, we officially unveiled the FINALE chapter that will close out the Light & Rain story arc – Light & Rain: Hope Burns Bright.
This epic final Chapter concludes the Light & Rain story arc, introduces challenges and surprises that expand the DCUO universe in meaningful ways. We’ve only scratched the surface so far, and we can’t wait to share what’s in store for all of you.

As we begin this new year and celebrate 15 years of DC Universe Online, I want to personally thank every player who has logged in, formed a league, shared feedback, and helped shape this game over the years. Your passion is the reason DCUO continues to evolve.
Whether you’ve been with us since launch or just started your journey, this anniversary isn’t just about looking back, it’s about looking forward. The next era of DCUO is already unfolding, and we’re honored to have you with us as we write the next chapter together.
See you in-game,
Andre Emerson
